By using hug.care, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What hug.care is
hug.care is a service that helps you send warm, AI-generated messages to people you care about. It is free to use with a limit of 3 hugs per month. hug+, our paid subscription, raises that limit to 50 hugs per month and adds additional features.
Signing in
You can use hug.care without creating an account. If you sign in with your phone number, we create a free account that stores your hug history on our servers so it persists across browsers and devices. Signing in does not start a paid subscription. You will only be charged if you explicitly subscribe to hug+.
hug+ subscription
hug+ is a paid subscription at $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. It includes 50 hugs per month, read receipts, flexible scheduling at any frequency, check-ins if a hug goes unopened, and full hug history. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the Plan card in your account — tap "Manage subscription" to open the secure billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep access until then. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use hug.care to send messages that are harmful, harassing, abusive, threatening, or illegal. You agree not to use automated tools or scripts to generate messages in bulk. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the service.
AI-generated content
Messages on hug.care are written by AI based on your inputs. We design the prompts carefully, but you are responsible for reviewing a message before sharing it. We are not liable for the content of AI-generated messages.
SMS messaging programme
Programme: hug.care sends transactional SMS to account holders. We never send marketing or promotional SMS. Messages we send: (1) account verification codes for sign-in, phone-number change, and account deletion; (2) share-link reminders for scheduled hugs you create; (3) check-in alerts you enable on a hug you've sent.
How you opt in: You opt in by entering your phone number on the sign-in screen at beta.hug.care and tapping Send code. The consent disclosure shown on that screen lists all message types above.
Message frequency: Variable. Verification codes are sent on demand when you sign in or change your number. Share-link reminders are sent only when you create a scheduled hug, at the cadence you choose. Check-in alerts are sent only when you enable them on a sent hug.

Support: Reply HELP or contact us.
To opt out: Reply STOP. You will receive one confirmation and no further messages will be sent. Opting out of SMS does not delete your account.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. We do not sell or share your data for marketing purposes.
Closing your account
You can close your hug.care account at any time. See our data deletion page for what gets removed, how to request it, and how to do it yourself in under a minute. Hugs you've already shared remain openable for the recipient with no name attached.
Availability
We aim to keep hug.care available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for any loss caused by outages or interruptions.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top reflects the latest version. Continued use of hug.care after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
